Dear supporters,

In 2009, Nepal Mayaka and I, Robin Blondeau, started to raise funds to build a brand new school. Our former primary school was in one of the worse slum of Kampala. Our project received the support of different international schools and from the French embassy which rewarded our work “Project of the year 2009”. We bought a plot of land outside Kampala and built a new primary school with a dorm. We are delighted to say that our pupils can attend school and in 2012 our first pupils completed their primary school certificate, among them Amina got amongst the best result in the district of Kampala.

However, we are facing a huge problem of access to clean water. We have built a rain catchment system but as the number of pupils has increased, we face either water shortages or we have to go to a dirty pool of water. Furthermore, with the weather changes and erratic rain due to El Nino phenomena, we alternate between floods or shortages as we get too much for the rain catchment system or not enough. Going to the dirty pool of water has its risks, as it is a bushy area and accomodates many snakes but also mosquitoes and al the diseases linked to dead water. Despite boiling it, we still have too many of our children suffering from stomach problems sometimes leading to fever and severe diarrhea if not worse. If we could built a well, we would be able to provide clean water at all times to all our pupils.

We would like to start the work as soon as possible. All together, thanks to your support, we can carry on making a tremendous difference in those young lives. You can give as little as 10 US dollars as this can pay for a month of school including a meal a day but our absolute priority is to build this well as we urgently need to solve the water problem.
